In Latin America the passion for soccer is shared by most everyone, as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Bolivia have been vying daily for a position in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.

At the moment the continent is playing qualifying matches for next year's world championship. Only Argentina had qualified for Germany 2006, but on Sept, 4, another country clinched a spot: Brazil.

Brazil guaranteed its place in Germany 2006 when it defeated Chile 5-0, by virtue of its new "magical team," comprising Ronaldo, Robinho, Kaka, Cafu, Ze Roberto and especially Adriano, the author of three goals. The encounter was held at Mane Garrincha stadium in Brasilia, the nation's capital.

The Brazilian press described the triumph against Chile as a massacre, with Brazil dominating the game, and a very weak and slow Chile in the course of the ball.

"This time will be no suffering. Not running risks like in the previous qualification sessions, Brazil managed to qualify in two sessions of anticipation and did it in a spectacle of soccer," according to the O Globo newspaper.

"The new the team worked perfectly with emphasis on the "Prince of Madrid [Real Madrid's Robinho], and the "Emperor of Milan" [Adriano of Inter Milan], and created a challenge for [coach Carlos Alberto] Parreira now that he will have to look for a place for Ronaldinho Gaucho [who plays in Barcelona, Spain], who did not play because of a date of suspension," added the same newspaper.

Let us remember that Brazil won the 2002 World Cup held in Korea and Japan, where the team defeated Germany 2-0, both goals belonging to Ronaldo, the current star of Real Madrid.

With the type of game that Brazil has at the moment, it is safe to say that the country has the greatest possibility of becoming the world champions in Germany, which for the team would be the sixth time.

To qualify for Germany 2006, Chile, Uruguay and Colombia will gamble everything in the grass in the coming days.

The results in this last session were:

Brazil 5 - Chile 0
Uruguay 3 - Colombia 2
Bolivia 1 - Ecuador 2
Paraguay 1 - Argentina 0
Venezuela 4 - Peru 1

In South America, there are five places for Germany 2006. Only two sessions remain.
