The state-run daily Gorkhapatra has reported that Dambar Kumari Subedi, a Nepali woman working in Lebanon, was killed during an Israeli attack in Lebanon two weeks ago. Her death has yet to be confirmed by the government, but the daily quoted Chandra Subedi, her husband, as saying that his wife was killed on July 14. He said he learned of her death from four Nepali youths from the western district of Gulmi that he had met in Chennai, India. The youths had left Lebanon after the Israeli attacks intensified.
The foreign ministry in Kathmandu announced that the government has banned Nepali workers from foreign employment in Israel and Lebanon until further notice. Manpower agencies that already have permission to go there have been cancelled.
