Elgar Welch is the director of media at Australian-based online start-up Scopical. As one of Australia’s first independent online media portals, sourcing a large proportion of content from citizen and freelance journalists, the service expects to introduce elements of user-created content and interaction not previously seen within most mainstream publications. He is currently working on the development of Scopical as a competitive media brand with localized services and balanced, objective journalism.
Prior to the formation of Scopical, Welch worked in film and television at leading Sydney-based post-production facility FSM and served as a media and brand consultant during his time at Resonate Media. In online publishing, he was involved in the development of several niche e-zine style media establishments for the domestic market and is now seeking to apply these methods to a larger Oceanic service.
