Five protestors and one SWAT police officer were dead Tuesday morning after a fire broke out in central Seoul.
Tenants of a soon-to-be demolished five-story building in Yongsan have been resisting eviction order in a dog fight that lasted for more than 24 hours. The protestors threw rocks and molotov cockatils at the riot police demanding fair compensation from the landowner. The fire broke out of solvent and other inflamable material piled up inside the makeshift roof top structure when police SWAT team stormed the building.
Lawmakers of the opposition party and activists blamed the dangerous police operation for the tragedy and demanded immediate resignation of the entire cabinet members.
