On the evening of Feb. 7 in central Seoul, thousands of concerned citizens came out to demonstrate against the heavy-handed tactics that ended the lives of five Yongsan relocation demonstrators on Jan. 20. One police officer was also killed in the resulting melee.

Feb. 7: Students and citizens gather in central Seoul to protest the deaths of the Yongsan residents on Jan. 20. People in Yongsan are being displaced and their homes expropriated with what many feel is minimal compensation. Their removal is also facilitated by threats from hired thugs.
